Firefighters are battling a massive blaze at a Birmingham recycling center in the Avondale area.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded just before 10 p.m. Wednesday to Birmingham Recycling and Recovery on 41st Street South.

They arrived to find the commercial building engulfed in flames.

It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was inside.
