Finebaum: Kalen DeBoer looks weak, passive over ‘humiliating’ Malachi Moore incident

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer defended defensive back Malachi Moore on Monday.

All Paul Finebaum heard was a word salad.

DeBoer said his team captain won’t be suspended after the defensive captain shoved Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia at the end of a play, chucked his mouthguard, kicked the football to draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and appeared to refuse to come off the field when Bray Hubbard tried to sub in for him.

“I was shocked by Kalen DeBoer’s passive approach to it after the game,” Finebaum said Monday on “The Paul Finebaum Show.” “That was humiliating. Be a football coach. Don’t be some shrinking violet. That’s what you looked like. You look weak.”

The SEC Network analyst is the first to point out that Moore is a good guy. Moore has since apologized in a statement for his actions. But, Alabama’s first-year coach is just making things worse.

“Just shut up already,” Finebaum said later in his show of DeBoer. “Quit trying to explain. This guy is not being nominated for citizen of the year. He’s already accepted as a top-flight person. We get it.

“How many word salads was DeBoer gonna weave there. What’s he afraid of? Show some leadership. Get mad. Act like you actually care that one of your players did something humiliating.”
