Finebaum caller’s wild Saban story includes former Alabama coach’s used gum and bribed security
In one of the more colorful moments of “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Friday, one caller claims to have gone to extraordinary lengths for Nick Saban’s used chewing gum.
“Josh from Alabama” shared with Finebaum a wild tale of how he became the owner of such a bizarre piece of memorabilia.
He claims he waited all night before the former Alabama coach was set to speak. Prior to stepping to the podium, the now-ESPN analyst threw out his chewing gum. Well, Josh kept tabs on that gum.
“I told (the security guard) what happened and said I’m going to get that gum,” he told Finebaum. “He said, ‘No, it’s only authorized personnel,‘” the caller relayed. “I gave the security $20, and he went in there and hunted and found it, so I have Nick Saban’s used chewing gum with his DNA on it at the house.”
Finebaum, who never shies away from the tough questions, asked, “Did you ever consider chewing the Nick Saban chewing gum?”
“I can’t mix perfection (with) my DNA,” Josh replied. “… I can’t taint that.”
Josh also shared he was offered $5,000 for the chewed gum.
