Fight over Space Command headquarters may be never-ending
Sometimes, destiny appears with rare clarity. “Resistance is futile” as the saying goes.
It is Alabama’s destiny to fight over the “permanent” headquarters for America’s Space Command until the day the HQ opens in Colorado, as still seems likely, or gets on a plane for Huntsville, its rightful home.
You thought Colorado won and it was all decided? Just because President Joe Biden, leader of the nation and commander in chief of its armed forces, decided the headquarters would remain in the Denver area where it started and now operates?
Please. Remember, this is Washington.
Alabama’s powerful congressional delegation, led by U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), “has insisted all along that Huntsville was the top-ranked location in the competitive selection process,” Associated Press reporter Marcia Smith wrote in a news report as recently as Sunday.
