Felony murder warrant issued against Walker County man in fatal shooting during burglary
Formal charges have been filed against a 49-year-old man in a deadly shooting in Carbon Hill.
Lonny Paul Tatum is charged with felony murder in the March 26 killing of 58-year-old Stanley Jay Webb, according to court records made public Tuesday.
The charges come one week after Webb was found shot to death at his Mays Road home.
Charging documents against Tatum say Webb was killed while Tatum was breaking in to the victim’s home. While committing that burglary, Tatum shot and killed Webb, according to the criminal complaint.
Tatum was taken into custody one day later by U.S. Marshals, Carbon Hill police and Walker County sheriff’s deputies. The arrest was made at a Nauvoo home.
Tatum is also charged with burglary.
Tatum remains held in the Walker County Jail. He is expected to make his first court appearance on Wednesday.
