Federal inmate sentenced for punching, injuring female officer at Alabama prison
An inmate at an Alabama federal prison was sentenced to more than four years in a federal lockup after he punched and injured a female corrections officers earlier this year, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Christopher McCallum was serving a sentence for a previous federal conviction at Federal Corrections Institution Talladega when he assaulted the officer on Feb. 29 by punching her in the head and upper torso area with clenched fists, according to his September guilty plea.
U.S. District Court Judge R. David Proctor sentenced McCallum to 51 months in federal prison based on the plea, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Carlton Peeples.
McCallum became disruptive when he walked toward staff and assaulted the officer, who sustained multiple injuries.
