These two teams have previously met three times, with the Volunteers leading the series 2-1.

Iowa’s impressive 10-3 season saw them make it to the Big Ten Championship game, but they were outclassed 26-0 by Michigan, who earned their spot in the College Football Playoff. Quarterback Joe Milton III completed 229 of 354 pass attempts for 2,813 yards for 20 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2023 and will lead the Volunteers against the Hawkeyes.
