Family sought for 4 men who died in Jefferson County in recent weeks
Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding family members of four men who died in Jefferson County in recent weeks.
Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has not been able to locate their next of kin.
Charles Kennedy Bolden, 57, was found unresponsive by a passerby on the sidewalk near the Church of the Reconciler in the 100 block of 14th Street North. The discovery was made at 8:44 a.m. on Dec. 15.
Bolden was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead about three hours later. The cause of his death is pending.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said all attempts to identify and locate family have failed. In 2021, Bolden listed a home address in the 4300 block of Jackson Street in Birmingham.
James Ellis Motes Jr., 46, was found unresponsive Dec. 20 in an abandoned house in the 2900 block of 25th Street North.
He was found at 3:17 a.m., and pronounced dead on the scene at 3:40 a.m. His cause of death is also pending.
Yates said the last known address for Motes was in Courtland in Lawrence County in 2008.
Timothy Marvid Jordan, 44, was found unresponsive on a sidewalk in front of a bus stop on Dec. 24.
The discovery was made at 1:12 a.m. on Second Avenue South at Oporto Madrid Boulevard. Jordan was pronounced dead on the scene six minutes later.
Jordan’s cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
In 2021, Jordan listed a home address in the 7900 block of First Avenue South. He also has possible ties to Cullman.
Goad, a 61-year-old white male, was found dead inside his residence about 5:16 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 2300 block of Court R. A neighbor doing a welfare check made the discovery.
Goad died of natural causes.
Yates said all attempts to identify and locate family have failed. Goad was possibly a veteran.
Family members asked to call the coroner’s office at 205-930-3603.
