Family sought for 3 people who died in Jefferson County in recent weeks
Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding family members of three people who died in Jefferson County this month.
Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has not been able to notify next of kin.
Morgan Blackerby, a 74-year-old white male, died Nov. 5. He was a resident at Ridgeway Rehabilitation and Senior Living on Ninth Avenue in Bessemer.
Blackerby lived in Maylene in 2013 and in Birmingham in 2020. He died of natural causes.
Jessie Anita Crotwell, an 81-year-old white female, died Nov. 12. She was a tenant of Oak Knoll Health and Rehabilitation on Sixth Avenue West in Birmingham.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Crotwell lived in McCalla in 2018. She died of natural causes.
Duane Arthur Goldstein, a 55-year-old white male, died Nov. 14.
He was found by a passerby at 6:52 a.m. that Tuesday on a sidewalk in the 600 block of 29th Street South in Birmingham. No foul play was involved in his death.
Yates said Goldstein is originally from New York but has been in Birmingham since at least 2014.
