Family sought for 2 who died recently in Jefferson County

Authorities are searching for family members of two people who died recently in Jefferson County.

Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has not been able to find their relatives to notify them.

Ronald Wilburn Freeze, 81, died Aug. 26 while he was a patient at UAB Hospital.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Freeze died of natural causes.

Family members of Freeze – Bethany Freeze who died in 1972 and Leslie Freeze who died in 1979 – are interned at Elmwood Cemetery.

Freeze had listed addresses in Birmingham and Vestavia Hills.

Mary Carla Rivers, 65, was found dead Sept. 3. Inside her home on Three Sons Drive in Hoover.

She was found during a welfare check at the request of her concerned neighbors, Yates said.

Rivers also died of natural causes.

Both of her parents were from Pelham, and both are interned at Elmwood Cemetery.

Rivers had previous addresses Pelham, Helena, and Vestavia Hills.
