Family seeks help burying siblings killed in horrific Birmingham crash: ‘Don’t only pray for us, pray with us’

Family members of a brother and sister killed in a weekend Birmingham crash said they are devastated by the unexpected deaths, and are asking for help with their funeral.

Imani Nashiem Smith, 25, and Mi’Angel Temple Jones, 21, died early Sunday when their car crashed into a utility pole on Graymont Avenue. Imani Smith left behind one child.

The family has launched a GoFundMe to help with their burials.

“On May 8th we lost two important pieces to the puzzle, but gained to two spiritual angels, Mi’Angel Jones & Imani Smith,’’ sister Shemaiah Jones wrote in the GoFundMe . “Day by day we’ll have to find comfort again, but we’ll never let go of the memories of love and relationships/friendships from our loved one’s life.”

“I say that to say this,” Jones said. “Don’t only pray for us, pray with us.”

The investigation showed the vehicle was traveling south on Arkadelphia Road when it struck a utility pole.

First responders arrived to find Smith and Jones unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead on the scene at 5:58 a.m.
