Family-owned Alabama restaurant closing after more than 65 years
A long-time staple of dining in the Shoals area is closing.
Jody’s Restaurant in Tuscumbia, a family-owned eatery which has been in business since 1958, is closing Aug. 4.
The restaurant, located at 1460 Alabama 20, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Regular customers turned up for its meat-and-three menu of Southern cooking, with an occasional helping of peach cobbler.
In an announcement on Facebook, the restaurant called it “heartbreaking news.”
“We are saddened and hate that it has come to this,” the announcement said.
“If we were able to keep it open, we 100% would! We would love if each and every one of you could come out this last week and see us one more time if possible; Let us say our goodbyes We thank you for all these years of support. We have truly built life long relationships here; each of us employees are family and many of you are family to us! We love you all and will truly miss each of you!”
Madelyn and Madison Price, whose great-grandparents opened the restaurant, told WHNT that they are “blessed and honored” to have made memories and friendships through the restaurant.
“It just feels like we have a bigger family than we could ever ask for,” Madison said.
