Family dispute led to shooting death of 62-year-old in Tuscaloosa and arrest, police say
A suspect has been charged in the Sunday shooting death of a 62-year-old man in Tuscaloosa.
Police were dispatched about 4 p.m. to the 3200 block of 18th Street on a report of a shooting.
Police arrived to find Joseph Earl Miller dead inside his home, said Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy.
After interviewing Miller’s family members, investigators identified the suspects as 41-year-old Andrew Wayne Hollie.
Kennedy said Hollie had been in a relationship with Miller’s daughter and had been engaged in threatening and abusive behavior toward both of them in the week prior to the fatal shooting.
Authorities issued a capital murder warrant for Hollie. U.S. Marshals took him into custody early Monday.
He is being held without bond in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
