Familiar team provides Cunningham Bounds Coastal Week 12 winner

The Week 12 Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Player of the Week is the third student-athlete from Mobile Christian to top the voting in the poll this season.

Running back Antonio Brown earned 50 percent of the 45,443 votes cast in the poll. The 5-foot-8, 158-pound sophomore ran for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the No. 1 Class 3A Leopards rolled to a 52-7 first-round playoff win over Beulah.

Millry’s Daylon Edmunds, who was player of the week twice this season, finished second in this week’s balloting. Edmunds accounted for seven touchdowns – five through the air and two rushing scores. He was 14-for-18 passing for 188 yards and ran 18 times for 121 yards as the Wildcats blanked Notasulga 55-0.

Sweet Water’s Deshanard Blanks was third in the voting after scoring five touchdowns in a 48-22 win over Florala. Blanks ran for 143 yards on 12 carries with four TDs and had a 36-yard interception return for a score.

Voting for the Cunningham Bounds Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.

In Week 12, more than 60,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
