Falling bricks? Mobile council pauses $287K repair to Civic Center facade
Faced with a more than $200 million project to rebuild the Civic Center, the Mobile City Council decided Tuesday to hold off spending more than $287,000 for emergency repairs to the bricks on the existing building’s façade that engineers claim is in danger of falling.
The council’s decision will give Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s administration another week to explore cheaper solutions toward protecting various aspects of the building from a potential brick collapse.
