Fairhope artist launches night makers market to diversify the local art scene

Meghan Burch, 25, is more than familiar with the Gulf Coast arts scene. She grew up on the Eastern Shore “consumed” with artwork, and today, she works at Dr. Music, a record store in Downtown Fairhope, and is a tattoo apprentice. She often sells her traditional Japanese-inspired art in local artists’ markets across Baldwin County, Mobile and Pensacola.

But as she attended these markets, she started noticing a trend: much of the displayed art was very similar. Many artists, naturally, take advantage of the beauty of Mobile Bay and the local environment. What comes to mind for her are sunsets, piers, and pelicans.
