Exchange of gunfire inside southwest Birmingham home leaves 2 injured

An investigation is underway after two people were shot Monday afternoon in southwest Birmingham.

West Precinct officers were dispatched at 1:50 p.m. to a residence in the 1900 block of 15th Way S.W., said Officer Truman.

The preliminary investigation indicates two men got into an argument inside the home and exchanged gunfire.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported one of the men from the home to UAB Hospital. He has life-threatening injuries.

A second man showed up at UAB Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.

Fitzgerald said the investigation is ongoing by the department felony assault detectives.
