South Alabama added a football transfer portal commitment late Friday from former Navy cornerback Greg Johnson.

Johnson (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) totaled five tackles and one tackle for loss in 13 games with the Midshipmen in 2024. The native of Ovilla, Texas, spent a year at Navy Prep before redshirting in 2023 and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Johnson is the eighth player — and second cornerback — to commit to South Alabama via the transfer portal in the current cycle. Former Georgia Tech cornerback Nehemiah Chandler, a redshirt freshman, committed to the Jaguars last month.

South Alabama lost both of its projected starting cornerbacks via the transfer portal following spring practice, with Ricky Fletcher leaving for Ole Miss and Lardarius Webb for Wake Forest. Amarion Fortenberry and Reggie Neely — both of whom started extensively in 2024 — have also departed the program since December, with Fortenberry transferring to Kansas State.

South Alabama finished 7-6 in 2024, its third straight winning season. The Jaguars open the 2025 schedule at home Aug. 30 vs. Morgan State.
