Ex-employee intentionally plowed BMW into Leeds business, charged with attempted murder, police say

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on multiple charges after police say he intentionally crashed his vehicle into his former workplace.

Joshua Jermaine Hardrick, 27, is charged with six counts of attempted murder, 10 counts of reckless endangerment, and first-degree criminal mischief.

The incident happened at 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 1 at TA Services. That business is located at 1405 Eight Street in Leeds.

Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin said the Margaret man was a former employee of TA Services.

On that Wednesday afternoon, the chief said, Hardrick “returned to the business in a violent manner and accelerated into this business in an area that is usually occupied by many employees.”

Employees detained Hardrick until police arrived.

TA Services is a logistics company that deals with freight brokerage and warehousing.

Hardrick reportedly worked for the company for more than a decade before he quit six months ago.

He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Friday on bonds totaling $307,500. He was released on Saturday.

“These employees are very fortunate that no one was seriously injured or died,’’ Irwin said. “I am proud of our officers who responded to the scene immediately and made sure these citizens were safe and removed the defendant.”

Anyone with additional information on the case is asked to call police at 205-699-2581.
