Ex-Alabama firefighter sentenced for sexually abusing 2 underage girls

A former Alabama firefighter was sentenced to 30 years in prison Thursday for sexual abuse and other charges involving two underage girls.

John Cole Carter, 31, of Elmore, was a firefighter with the Wetumpka Fire Department when he was arrested in June on charges of child pornography, sexual abuse, and electronic solicitation of a child after one of the victim’s fathers filed a complaint with Wetumpka police, WSFA reported.

Carter pled guilty to the charges in January.

On Thursday, he was sentenced in Elmore County Circuit Court to 30 years in state prison.

The sentence was not yet in court records as of Thursday evening.
