Evacuations ordered as wildfire threatens homes in east Alabama
Authorities in east Alabama are urging residents of 13 areas to “evacuate immediately” due to a wildfire threatening homes Tuesday night.
A wildfire was reported in the area of NE Faith Drive and moving toward Foster West in Calhoun County, the county Emergency Management Agency said Tuesday night.
The residents of these 13 areas being told to evacuate, per the EMA:

- Charity Lane
- Cove Road
- Kelly Lane
- Gaddy Drive
- Peace Road
- Dogwood Lane
- Mixon Road
- Faith Drive
- Grey Harslon
- Foster West
- Tims Lane
- Williams Road
The First Baptist Church of Williams will have a gym available for anyone needing space, the agency said.
“Please do not delay—gather essential items and evacuate safely,“ the EMA posted. ”Emergency crews are responding, and we will provide updates as soon as possible. Stay safe!”
About 15 to 20 homes in the Charity Circle/Charlie Penny Road area in the Asberry community are in danger, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, which is going door to door notifying residents to leave.
