ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ reveals Week 1 celebrity picker
ESPN’s “College GameDay” announced Thursday that the celebrity guest picker for Saturday’s broadcast from College Station will be former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.
“Aggie Lane, we need you loud and crazy as we have Notre Dame coming to town,” Manziel said in a video message posted on the official “GameDay” “X” account. “Really looking forward to it. Checking something off the bucket list this week.
“Can’t wait.”
Manziel will join host Rece Davis and analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Lee Corso, who didn’t make the trip to Dublin, Ireland, for the Week 0 broadcast, is expected to make his season debut on Saturday.
It was reported this week, that the former Heisman Trophy-winning Aggies quarterback will join Action Network’s “Big Bets On Campus” podcast for the 2024 collegiate football season. The debut episode will be released on Friday.
Manziel revealed in a February interview “there was a bag man at every school around the country if you were competing for a national title.”
Yes, that included Alabama, the former Texas A&M quarterback said.
The comment was a result of a story he shared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast with Shannon Sharpe in which his father tried to broker a $3 million deal on his behalf while Manziel was still in college. Of course, that was in the pre-NIL era of college football.
