ESPN unveils ‘SEC on ABC’ intro music for 2024

ESPN on Thursday unveiled its “SEC on ABC” theme music for 2024, which will make its debut on Saturday.

After more than two decades at CBS, the SEC’s football “Game of the Week” moves to ABC this season as part of a 10-year, multi-billion-dollar exclusive contract between the league and ABC/ESPN. The new theme, composed by Bob Christianson, was conceived as a “re-orchestration” of ESPN’s classic “College Football Saturday Night” anthem from the late 1990s/early 2000s.

“Music is a crucial element in shaping the storytelling of any broadcast,” said ESPN president of content Burke Magnus. “The opportunity to resurrect a theme song that means so much to college football fans, and so many of us at ESPN, was important as we start this new chapter in our relationship with the SEC.”

Here’s the new version, then the old:

The new “SEC on ABC” theme song will debut with Saturday’s Florida vs. Miami game in Gainesville (2:30 p.m. Central) and air again during that night’s Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame game in College Station (6:30 p.m.). The theme song will air exclusively on SEC home games televised by ABC.
