ESPN tabs network vet as Sam Ponder’s replacement on ‘NFL Sunday Countdown’
A week after firing Sam Ponder, ESPN announced her replacement.
ESPN announced Tuesday that Mike Greenberg will take over as the new host of “Sunday NFL Countdown,” the network’s pregame show.
Greenberg will join analysts Tedy Bruschi, Randy Moss, Rex Ryan, and Alex Smith, as well as NFL insider Adam Schefter, on set. The show will also have its roster of NFL reporters in the field, including Jeff Darlington, Dan Graziano, Kimberley A. Martin, Sal Paolantonio and Lindsey Thiry.
Greenberg will also continue to host “Get Up.”
Last week, ESPN Ponder and Robert Griffin III.
The former NFL quarterback had two years remaining on the contract after being hired three years ago.
Ponder has been the host of ESPN’s flagship pre-game show “NFL Countdown” since 2017. She previously worked as a reporter on college football games and on “College GameDay” and is married to former Florida State and NFL quarterback Christian Ponder.
According to reports, Ponder and Griffin both made seven-figure salaries.
