ESPN: Alabama to play more running backs, Ole Miss missing key offensive pieces

Alabama football needs to prove itself against Ole Miss. With a redefined starting quarterback, the Tide is looking for a statement win against the Rebels to open conference play. And with the 2:30 kickoff approaching, injury news is starting to come out for both squads.

Per ESPN reporter Chris Low, No. 13 Alabama (2-1) is planning on using more running backs today in addition to a “banged-up” Jase McClellan and the star of last week’s game, Roydell Williama. Low noted the impending usage of Jam Miller and five-star recruit Justice Haynes.

“I think Jase and Roydell have played very, very well, both guys. We also have confidence in Jam and Justice and I think both of those guys will contribute at some point in time in the season pretty significantly because they’re both really good players and I think they’re both ready to play,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said on Wednesday when asked about UA’s running back rotation.

For the Rebels, coach Lane Kiffin and quarterback Jaxson Dart may be without pass-catchers Tre Harris, Zakhari Franklin, Caden Prieskorn. All are listed as doubtful, according to Low. Pike Road alum Quinshon Judkins should be active in his return home after missing last week with a rib injury.
