Eric Carmen, ‘All by Myself’ and ‘Hungry Eyes’ singer, dead at 74

Eric Carmen, the former lead vocalist of The Raspberries, died in his sleep. He was 74.

His website reported the news.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” a post on his website states. “Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend.

“It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy,” the post said.

No cause of death was given.

Carmen rose to fame as the frontman of the 1970s pop-rock group The Raspberries with hits including “I Wanna Be with You” and “Go All the Way.”

Carmen also his hits during his solo career such as “All by Myself” and “Hungry Eyes,” which was known for its inclusion in the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack. He was also featured on “The Footloose” soundtrack when he co-wrote “Almost Paradise,” which was performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson.

“All by Myself,” “Make Me Lose Control and “Hungry Eyes” peaked in top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100.
