Entire state under a heat advisory for Sunday
The heavy blanket of hot air suffocating Alabama will remain in place for Sunday, and the entire state is under heat advisories.
Air temperatures on Sunday are expected to climb (again) into the mid- to upper 90s. Combine that with high humidity levels and that will send the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, as high as 110 later this afternoon.
But there is a tiny bit of relief on the horizon. A more typical summertime pattern is expected to set up for Alabama through this week, and temperatures will return closer to normal for early July — highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Temperatures are forecast to be a few degrees cooler starting on Monday and progressing through the week, with daily chances for showers and storms.
Here are Monday’s expected high temperatures:
Some storms today could be strong to severe for the northern half of Alabama, according to the Storm Prediction Center. More isolated severe storms will be possible on Monday and Tuesday (Independence Day) as well.
