‘Enhanced’ security measures in place at Redstone Arsenal: What to know
Enhanced security measures are in place at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, including pausing facial recognition and the Trusted Traveler Program.
The Arsenal announced in a Facebook post on Friday that all military installations were adopting the enhanced measures effective immediately. The announcement did not explain the reason. Military bases in other states have implemented enhanced security measures as well.
“Every individual in the vehicle will need an agency identification card to gain access to the base,” the Redstone announcement stated.
Agency identification cards include Department of Defense, Department of Justice, Homeland Security and NASA. Visitors without such ID must stop at the Visitor Control Center at Gate 9 on Rideout road, the arsenal said.
“Commuters should make arrangements in advance for this situation and allow for extra time when accessing Redstone Arsenal, especially during high-traffic times.”
Any suspicious activity can be reported online to Counterintelligence SE Region 1 or by phone at 800-225-5779.
