Elon Musk’s popularity is plunging and it’s not because of Democrats, new poll shows
Elon Musk’s approval rating has sunk lower, and it’s not due to the group of voters who disapprove of his entry into politics, according to a new poll.
Since President Donald Trump began his second term, Musk’s popularity has been underwater in the Economist/YouGov poll, starting out at a -4 rating.
Now, that number is at -9 — a five-percentage-point decrease.
Meanwhile, Musk’s popularity — or rather, unpopularity — among Democrats has remained largely unchanged. Musk had a -66 approval rating at the start of Trump’s term among Democrats.
Now, he’s actually gained a point with Democrats as his approval rating with those voters is -65.
But Musk has lost ground among Republicans who largely support the world’s richest man and Tesla CEO since Musk began supporting Trump, the poll found.
At the start of the president’s second term, Musk enjoyed a +64 approval rating among Republicans.
Now, the tech billionaire has shaved five points off his approval rating with the GOP with a +59 approval rating, the poll showed.
