Elon Musk asked to pull fake video of Haitian immigrant voting multiple times in Georgia

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Thursday asked Elon Musk to remove a fake video from X, formerly known as Twitter, that appears to show a Haitian immigrant with multiple pieces of identification voting multiple times.

The video “is false and is an example of targeted disinformation we’ve seen in this and other elections,” Raffensperger posted on the social media site.

Georgia election security officials are working with the federal government to identify the source of the “obviously fake” video, Raffensperger said.

“Likely it is a production of Russian troll farms,” Raffensperger said.

Musk had not commented publicly on the video or Raffensperger’s request as of late Thursday night.

Haitian immigrants have found themselves in a national spotlight since former President Donald Trump falsely claimed during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris that migrants in Springfield, Ohio were eating dogs and cats.

In Alabama, the presence of communities of Haitian immigrants in several cities have been the subject of online rumors and angry exchanges at city council meetings.

Raffensperger urged people not to allow “foreign interference” to “sow discord and chaos” ahead of Tuesday’s election.

“As Americans we can’t let our enemies use lies to divide us and undermine our faith in our institutions — or each other.”
