Elderly patient displayed handgun in Tuscaloosa hospital room, police say
An elderly man brandished a handgun while in a Tuscaloosa hospital room Tuesday morning.
Tuscaloosa police responded at 5:02 a.m. to DCH Regional Medical Center on a report that a patient was armed with a gun, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor.
Hospital staff reported that the man displayed a handgun while in one of the hospital rooms. No shots were fired, and no one was injured.
The man was compliant when officers arrived. He handed over the weapon, Taylor said, which has been placed into evidence at TPD headquarters.
No criminal charges have been filed, and the patient remained at the hospital for treatment.
