Elba RB Alvin Henderson will decide between Auburn, 3 others
Four-star Elba running back Alvin Henderson is set to make his college decision on Thursday.
The 5-foot-10, 198-pound rising senior will decide between Auburn, Penn State, Miami and Florida State. He told AL.com earlier today he would announce his choice at noon in the school auditorium.
Henderson is currently the No. 10 prospect in Alabama’s Class of 2025, according to the 247 composite rankings. He is rated as the No. 2 senior running back in the state behind only Carver’s Anthony Rogers, an Alabama commit.
Recruiting experts seem split on his possible choice. Of four 247 experts, three favor Henderson to choose Auburn, while another favors Penn State. The On3 recruiting prediction machine has Auburn as an 87.4 percent favorite.
Henderson is the two-time reigning Class 1A Player of the Year, according to the Alabama Sports Writers Association. In 2023, he rushed for 3,523 yards and 61 touchdowns on 225 carries – an average of 15.7 yards per carry and 251 yards per game.
“I believe my junior year was way better than my sophomore year just because I felt like I was more locked in and focused,” he said in January. “I felt like I was able to understand the game more and understand what I had to do on and off the field to be a complete player and a complete person.”
Henderson also was named to the ASWA Super All-State team comprised of the 12 best players for the 2023 season regardless of class or position.
Eight of the top 15 rising seniors in Alabama, according to the 247 composite rankings, are already committed. They are No. 1 Parker DB Na’eem Offord (Ohio State), No. 5 Southside-Selma WR Derick Smith (Alabama), No. 7 Rogers (Alabama), No. 9 Saraland QB KJ Lacey (Texas), No. 11 Highland Home EDGE Jakaleb Faulk (Auburn), No. 12 Saraland DL Antonio Coleman (Alabama), No. 13 Parker DL Jourdin Crawford (Auburn) and No. 14 Opelika DL Malik Autry (Auburn).
