East Alabama man dies in single-vehicle Saturday crash
A Randolph County man died Saturday afternoon from injuries when his truck veered off a road and struck several trees.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the incident happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Randolph County 66 near Randolph County 270, approximately five miles north of Wedowee.
Joey M. Wortham, 52, of Newell, was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra that left the roadway.
Troopers said Newell was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers with the state’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
