Dwight Yoakam books Alabama show: How you can get tickets

Dwight Yoakam is coming to Alabama.

The Kentucky-born country music star and actor will (with The Mavericks) bring “The Cosmic Roundup & Rodeo Tour” to Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa on Friday, Oct. 18.

The date falls on the night before the Alabama Crimson Tide football team travel to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 21 at 10 a.m. You can purchase via Ticketmaster and the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater box office.

Blending genres like honky-tonk and rockabilly, Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and is a 21-time nominated and multiple Grammy-winner. Yoakam has 12 gold albums and nine that went platinum or multi-platinum. He received the Artist of the Year award from the Americana Music Association.

He earned mainstream success with the 1986 release of his debut album “Guitars, Cadllacs, Etc., Etc. Other albums include “Hillbilly Deluxe” and “Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room.”

Hit songs include “Streets of Bakersfield” and “I Sang Dixie.”

Yoakam is also an accomplished film and television actor, having appeared in “Red Rock West,” “Panic Room,” “The Minus Man,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Four Christmases” and “Goliath.” One of his most notable film performances came in 1996 as the villainous Doyle Hargraves in Billy Bob Thornton’s Oscar-winning Southern drama “Sling Blade.”
