DUI charges dropped against Madison County Schools bus driver involved in wreck

DUI charges have been dropped against the driver of a Madison County school bus involved in a wreck in September.

Madison County prosecutors said they could not prove the allegations against Christopher Brazelton, according to an order dismissing the case Wednesday from Madison County District Court Judge Ronald W. Smith.

At the time of the wreck involving the bus carrying 10 Sparkman Middle School students, Madison County Schools Superintendent Ken Kubik alleged Brazelton failed at least one part of a field sobriety test following the incident.

Officials initially thought Brazelton experienced a medical emergency along Dan Crutcher Road when the bus collided with a vehicle and left the roadway. There were no student injuries reported at the scene.

It was unclear whether evidence emerged that Brazelton did in fact have a medical emergency.

Prosecutors did not give reasons for why they were no longer pursuing the case against the bus driver.
