‘Duck Dynasty’ legend retiring after 25 years

John Godwin, a decoy technician and duck call builder for the famous “Duck Dynasty” team, announced his retirement on a Jan. 9 episode of the group’s podcast “Duck Call Room.”

“25 years, that’s enough,” Godwin said on the episode.

Godwin, who added he was “ready to go fishing,” appeared on the popular reality show, which aired from 2012 to 2017.

Duck Dynasty’s Lisa Robertson celebrated Godwin’s retirement in a social media post.

“Get ready for some honey-do’s! You know Paula Godwin can’t let you just sit around eating Bon-bons!” Robertson posted.

“Duck Dynasty” has been in the headlines as of late.

Last month, it was reported that Phil Robertson had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

“Phil’s not doing well,” Phil’s son Jase Robertson said during Friday’s episode of “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast. “I think I spoke on the 1000th podcast, we were trying to figure out the diagnosis, but according to the doctors, he has some sort of blood disease causing all kinds of problems.

“It’s like accelerated, and it’s causing problems with his entire body. And he has early stages of Alzheimers. So, if you put those things together, he’s really not doing well. He’s struggling.”
