Drunk Mountain Brook teen’s spring break ends in Florida jail when he allegedly spits on deputy on tennis court
A Mountain Brook teen ended up in a Florida jail for Spring Break when authorities say he showed up drunk and wreaked havoc at some Santa Rosa Beach tennis courts.
The teen is accused of cursing at his mom and spitting on a deputy, just to name a few alleged offenses.
Walton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call Monday evening on Winston Lane where tennis court patrons were physically restraining the 17-year-old Alabama boy after he attempted to fight those around him.
Sheriff’s officials said the teen showed up at the tennis courts and began verbally harassing players. The interaction quickly escalated to physical violence.
At one point, authorities said, the teen shoved a patron down to the ground on the court when he was asked to leave. To defend himself, the civilian who was pushed, pinned the suspect down until deputies arrived on scene.
Deputies saw immediate signs and behaviors of intoxication and found a 1.75 liter of vodka in the teen’s backpack.
As lawmen tried to take the teen into custody, he shouted profanities at his own mother and multiple deputies. He also spit in a deputy’s face.
The teen’s name has not been released because of his age. He is facing charges of battery on an officer, battery, obstruction without violence, and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.
He was taken to the Walton County Jail and then transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview
