Florence police said a 68-year-old driver died following an incident on Huntsville Road and Cox Creek Parkway Monday night.

Sgt. Ryan Kelly said at about 10 p.m., a police officer was alerted to the area after witnesses saw a Cadillac SRX drive into a business.

The driver, whose name was not released, died at the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police believe the driver suffered a medical event before the crash.

“We want to extend our condolences to the family of the victim,” Kelly said.
