A 58-year-old man was killed when his car hit a downed tree in the road.

Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Arnold E. McCray. He was 53 and lived in Tuskegee.

The wreck happened at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday on Macon County 26 near Macon County 22, about six miles southeast of Tuskegee.

ALEA Lt. Jeremy Burkett said McCray was driving a Nissan Altima when he hit the tree. Upon impact, he left the road and hit another tree.

McCray was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene, Burkett said.

The investigation is ongoing.
