Driver injured in shooting as Alabama police led on chase in skid-steer arrested

The Mobile Police Department have announced the arrest of the man they allege was behind the viral tractor trailer incident in January.

In a release, the department announced that Joseph Jones, 36, was arrested and charged for allegedly stealing a Kubota track loader on Jan. 30 prior to police chasing him on the interstate.

Video showed the track loader striking one police car during the chase and police allege that Jones attempted to strike an officer with the tractor.

The chase eventually ended with officers shooting at Jones and injuring him. He was transported to a hospital and police stated in February he was in critical condition following the shooting.

According to Fox10 News, law enforcement sources previously stated that Jones was the alleged driver but the Mobile police would not officially confirm at the time.

According to jail records, Jones was charged with attempting to elude, first degree assault, theft of property, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
