A drive-by shooting early Saturday left one man dead.

Authorities said the 29-year-old victim was sitting on the front porch of a home in Midfield about 2 a.m. when someone drove by and opened fire. The house is located in the 1400 block of Rayfield Drive.

Deputies arrived at the home to find the victim unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said evidence collected at the scene showed multiple shots – more than 20 – were fired at the house.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.

The deadly shooting is the 82nd homicide in all of Jefferson County this year. No arrests have been made.
