An investigation is underway after a shooting in downtown Birmingham.

The shooting happened at7:45 p.m. in an alley in the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue North. That location is near the Redmont Hotel.

Birmingham police Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said the victim sustained life-threatening injuries.

Additional information surrounding the circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately available.

No arrests have been made.
