President Donald Trump continues to enjoy an approval rating just below 50%, according to the latest compilation of national polls.

538.com’s polling average puts the president’s approval rating at 49% with a disapproval rating of 46% for a net positive of 3 percentage points. According to the site, the average is projected to fall in this range 95% of the time.

Ratings from individual polls vary widely, with Trump’s approval rating as high as plus 9 (53% approval vs. 44% disapproval) in a poll by Quantus Insights to a 2-point net negative rating (47% approval vs. 49% disapproval) in the YouGov/Economist poll.

The role of Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, is divisive, the poll showed. Overall, 49% said they approved of DOGE’s cost-cutting measures compared to 45% who opposed. Republicans and Democrats are equally divided on Musk and DOGE with 84% of Republicans backing the task force led by billionaire Musk. Seventy-eight percent of Democrats and 49% of Democrats are opposed to the group.

Age appears to play a role in the view of DOGE as well. Fifty-seven percent of 18-29-year-olds approved of the group, the highest figures from any demographic. The lowest approval – 43% – was among people ages 65 and older.

The poll was conducted Feb. 10-12 among 1,000 registered voters with a margin of error of plus/minus 3.5%.
