Donald Trump Jr. to run for office? What he thinks of following his father into politics
Is President Donald Trump the beginning of a political dynasty?
The president’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., ranks highly in 2028 Republican presidential primary polls, is outspoken on culture war issues and has been active in several GOP campaigns.
Trump Jr.’s involvement in politics has fueled speculation that elected office is in his future.
While speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum, was asked by Bloomberg’s Joumanna Nasr Bercetche if he would “consider picking up the reins” when his father leaves the White House.
“Would you run for office?” she asked as the crowd applauded the possibility.
“Well, it’s an honor to be asked and an honor to see that some people are OK with it,” Trump Jr. said, acknowledging the crowd.
“You never know. You know, right now, this has been my focus,” he said, referring to combatting “woke ideology” in politics and the corporate world.
“I think it’s not just about government. It’s also about … the business sector doing that. I think when we saw, again, the woke ideology that has taken over corporate America for the last decade or so, being on the forefront of combating that insanity, I think is fundamentally important,” he said.
“I think those two things have to go hand-in-hand,” Trump Jr. continued.
“So the answer is: I don’t know” about a future in politics, he said.
“Maybe one day that calling is there. I’ll always be very active in terms of being an vocal proponent of these things,” he said.
Trump Jr. claimed his father has been a transformational political figure.
“I think my father has truly changed the Republican Party. I think it’s the America First Party now, the MAGA Party — however you want to look at it,” he said.
