Donald Trump claims countries ‘kissing my ass’ to make deals after tariffs: ‘I’ll do anything, sir’

Foreign leaders are making a mad dash to negotiate with Donald Trump after he announced tariffs on several nations last week, the president claimed.

“I’m telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my ass,” Trump told the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday night.

“They are … dying to make a deal. ‘Please, please, Sir, make a deal. I’ll do anything. I’ll do anything, sir.”

The president then criticized GOP members who disagree with his stance on tariffs, claiming he is a master negotiator.

“Then I’ll see some rebel Republican, some guy that wants to grandstand, say, ‘I think that Congress should take over negotiations,‘” Trump said. “Let me tell you: You don’t negotiate like I negotiate.”

On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he is sending a delegation to the United States for talks with the Trump administration over 29% tariffs on Pakistani imports.

Other countries are stepping up their tariffs on American goods in response to Trump’s policy, including China, which announced Wednesday it will raise its retaliatory tariff to 84%, up from 34%. The levy is set to go into effect Thursday.
