Domestic shooting at Moody home leaves 61-year-old man dead, wife wounded; son jailed
A 35-year-old man is in jail, accused of fatally shooting his father and wounding his mother at their Moody home.
Moody police were dispatched at 11 p.m. Monday to a possible domestic assault on Lee Green Road. When they arrived, they found two victims had been shot.
Joseph D. Bowlin, 61, was pronounced dead on the scene. Connie L. Bowlin, 60, was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham in stable condition, said Moody police Chief Reece Smith.
Police identified the suspect as John Adam Bowlin.
Moody police and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team took John Adam Bowlin into custody at a home in the 800 block of Argo Margaret Road.
He was booked into the St. Clair County Jail at 2:38 a.m. on pending charges of murder and attempted murder.
A motive has not yet been disclosed.
Multiple agencies assisted Moody police, including the Center for Applied Forensics at JSU and officers from Argo, Odenville and Margaret police departments.
