Dollar retail store coming to Hoover, takes over former supper club location

Dollar Tree is opening a new location in Hoover at the Plaza at Riverchase, according to the property management website.

The store will be the 28th Dollar Tree in the Birmingham metro area, and the third in the city of Hoover, according to the Dollar Tree Corporate website.

According to Evan Staley, the leasing agent at the Plaza at Riverchase, the store is set to open sometime between March and April 2025. However, he said Dollar Tree would have to solidify the exact date for the opening.

Dollar Tree Corporate could not be reached for comment.

The new store will occupy the former space of The Perfect Note, a popular supper club closed in June 2024.

On Facebook, Iris McMillian asked, “So they really closed down The Perfect Note in Hoover to put up another Dollar Tree?”

The owner of The Perfect Note, Tremayne Thompson told AL.com that the Plaza at Riverchase was “going in a different direction” and that Perfect Note did not have a “retail model” that would fit it.

McMillian said to AL.com, “We have too many Dollar Trees. The Perfect Note was a thriving business that brought diversity and culture to Hoover. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Why force out something that benefits your community?”

Historically, the space has been used as a restaurant. The building is 14,000 square feet, and had a 180-seat dining room, a 25-seat bar and a five-seat lounge, a lobby with a box office and reception area, a huge kitchen, a large stage, dressing rooms for artists, and a load-in zone for equipment.
