Dogtopia coming to Birmingham’s Urban Supply

Downtown Birmingham is getting a new option for dog owners to pamper their pets.

Dogtopia is coming to Parkside district at Urban Supply.

The dog daycare, boarding and spa will be located in the HESCO Automotive building at 1200 2nd Ave. S., according to developer Orchestra Partners. Opening next summer, it will occupy 6,500 square feet of the building, alongside tech firm Diversified.

The location will be the second Dogtopia in the Birmingham area, joining the Homewood location from the same owners.

“There are more than 1,600 residential units in Birmingham’s Parkside district,” Drew Watson, senior development associate with Orchestra Partners, said. “We want Urban Supply to offer all the amenities people in the neighborhood want, from bars and restaurants, to exercise and entertainment facilities. We knew we needed an option for dog owners, and Dogtopia is a known brand that provides top-of-the line service.”

Dogtopia offers overnight and long-term boarding, spa services and webcam access for owners to check in on their dogs.

Carlton and Henson Millsap, the team of brothers who will co-own Dogtopia of Parkside, said they “can’t wait to introduce the nation’s highest quality dog daycare and boarding to Parkside and the surrounding downtown areas.”

Urban Supply is a multi-block destination in Birmingham’s Parkside District. It consists of six properties along a pedestrian-only aisle created from a former alley. Construction is set to begin early next year. Once complete, Orchestra Partners says the project will include entertainment, food and beverage, fitness and office tenants.

Earlier this month, Fairway Social was announced as part of the development, with virtual sports games, a full-service restaurant and bar.
