DJ Butler accounts for 6 TDs, Davidson tops Foley
Coastal Carolina commit D.J. Butler returned after nursing an injury for the last few weeks and sparked Davidson to a big 52-41 win over Foley.
Butler rushed for 315 yards and four touchdowns and also passed for 85 yards and 2 TDs as the Warriors unleashed the single-wing offensive attack on the Lions.
Davidson improved to 4-4 overall and stayed in the Class 7A, Region 1 playoff chase with a 2-3 record. The Warriors play at Alma Bryant next week.
Foley fell to 4-4, 2-3 and travels to rival Daphne next week, needing a win and a Davidson loss to make the postseason.
Terrance Gray added 139 yards rushing and 2 TDs for Davidson as the Warriors rushed for 456 yards and finished with 541 yards of total offense.
Auburn 5-star wide receiver commit Perry Thompson caught 10 passes for 93 yards and a TD and also threw a touchdown pass.
QB Nelson Thompson completed 22-of-31 passes for 263 yards and 2 TDs. Shaborn Oakes and Rylan Pedalino each had TD receptions. Kolton Nero rushed for 57 yards and a TD. Damien Martial rushed for 60 yards and 2 TDs on nine carries.
