Discount chain closing 10 Alabama locations after bankruptcy filing

Following its recent bankruptcy filing, Nashville-based discount store Bargain Hunt announced today that all 92 of its locations are set to close at the end of February.

The chain has officially started its Going-Out-of-Business sales, where shoppers can save up to 40% off the lowest ticketed prices storewide, according to a press release from the company.

“Stores are stocked, and new merchandise continues to arrive at deeply discounted prices,” said Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer – Retail.

“We recommend shopping immediately for the best selection as this sale won’t last long.”

The release included the following details about the sale.

  • Discounts valid in stores only.
  • All Sales Final on purchases made on or after January 30, 2025.
  • Returns can be made for purchases made prior to January 30, 2025, only until February 12, 2025 in accordance with the company’s policy.
  • Gift cards will be accepted through February 12, 2025.
  • Store Fixtures and Equipment are also being sold.

There are 10 Bargain Hunt stores in Alabama, located in: Cullman, Decatur, Florence, Gadsden, Hoover, Irondale, Montgomery, Opelika, Pell City, and Sylacauga.
